Website Test Bed Platforms
Quality Web Site Testing, LLC has a flexible in-house website test bed that can be configured to many different platforms. A platform is simply a unique combination of operating system and web browser.
For best results, the web sites we test are hosted on web servers at our client's web hosting companies. That is, we don't copy a web site to our own web server before we test it.
We can test using these Operating Systems:
- Windows 7 - all versions
- Windows Vista - all 32-bit and 64-bit versions
- Windows XP - all 32-bit and 64-bit versions
- Windows Server 2008 - all 32-bit and 64-bit versions
- Windows Server 2003 - all 32-bit and 64-bit versions
- Windows 2000 - all versions
- Mac OS X.5
- Mobile Device operating systems
- And new operating systems as they become available
We can test using different version of these Web Browsers:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Apple Safari - PC and Mac versions
- Mozilla Firefox
- Opera
- Google Chrome
- Mobile device browsers
- And new browsers as they become available
Mobile Devices
We have the physical devices for an Apple iPhone 3G and an HP iPAQ running Windows Mobile 6 Classic.
We can test additional mobile devices such as Blackberry's, Palm PDAs, and smart phones. In these cases, we would use device emulators when they are provided by the manufacturer.
Test Bed Tools
Quality Web Site Testing uses several tools to create different operating environments on our own network:
- VMWare Workstation
- Microsoft Virtual PC
- Mobile Device Emulators
These tools allow us to create closed environments for testing based on the needs of client projects.
Network Speeds
- The default internet connection is ADSL with 4000 kbps download and 350 kbps upload speeds.
- We can also test on public and private Wi-Fi networks such as those at coffee shops and libraries.
- We have the capability to test sites with a 56k dial-up modem.
- We can test the iPhone 3G on Wi-Fi, EDGE, or 3G network speeds.
Service Packs
We keep our computers up to date with the most recent service packs, patches, and virus protection.
